Tell the contractor about the rooms

Give the address, ZIP, affected spaces and approximate depth. Mention the source if known, when the water appeared and any uncertainty. Describe what you can see safely.

Discuss entry and assessment

Explain locks, stairs, parking or other access restrictions. Confirm who can approve work and ask about availability and any assessment charge.

Review the pickup proposal

Ask which rooms and tasks are included, what the charge covers and what is excluded. Bulk extraction, source repair, drying and material repairs may be different scopes.

Agree the next checks

Find out how the contractor will assess and report remaining moisture and whether equipment days or return visits are included. Additional work should be discussed before authorization.
